چکیده

Melinjo leaves has several benefits as antidiabetic, antihyperglycemia, antioxidant and diuretic. In this experiment the acute toxicity test of ethanol extract melinjo (Gnetum gnemon L). on male white rats wistar strain with fixed dose procedure method. The result screening phytochemical showed that beluntas contained alcaloid, flavonoid, saponin, fenolic, tanin. Ethanol was obtained by maceration using 70%. From observational study, 2000 mg/kg BW chosen starting for main study. Experimental animal subject used in study were 10 which divided into 2 group, normal group treatment a mg/kgBW. there no death or sign all experimental animals. Stilbenoids isolated from the seeds of Melinjo (Gnetum gnemon L.) and their biological activity.

A 50% EtOH extract of the dried endosperms of melinjo (Gnetum gnemon L.) was purified by a combination of column chromatography, including highly porous polymer, octadecylated silica (ODS), hydroxypropylated dextran (LH-20), and silica gel, resulting in the isolation of a new stilbenoid 1, named gnetin L, along with five previously identified stilbenoids 2-6 (gnetin C, gnemonosides A, C, and D,...

Melinjo (Gnetum gnemon L.) Seed Extract Decreases Serum Uric Acid Levels in Nonobese Japanese Males: A Randomized Controlled Study

Melinjo (Gnetum gnemon L.) seed extract (MSE) containing trans-resveratrol (3,5,4'-trihydroxy-trans-stilbene) and other derivatives exerts various beneficial effects. However, its mechanism of action in humans remains unknown. In this study, we aimed to investigate beneficial effects of MSE in healthy adult males. In this double-blind, randomized controlled study, 30 males aged 35-70 years with...

Three new trimeric stilbenes from Gnetum gnemon.

Three stilbene trimers (gnemonols D, E, F) were isolated from the root of Gnetum gnemon. The structures were determined by spectroscopic analysis. In addition, the antioxidant activity of the compounds on lipid peroxide inhibition and super oxide scavenging activity were also investigated.

Antitumor activity of melinjo (Gnetum gnemon L.) seed extract in human and murine tumor models in vitro and in a colon-26 tumor-bearing mouse model in vivo

Melinjo (Gnetum gnemon L.) seed extract (MSE) and its active ingredient gnetin C (GC), a resveratrol dimer, have been shown to possess a broad spectrum of pharmacological activities. In this study, we investigated the antitumor activity of MSE and GC using human and murine tumor cell culture models in vitro. The antitumor activity of GC was compared with trans-resveratrol (tRV), a stilbenoid po...

Inhibitory effect of gnetin C, a resveratrol dimer from melinjo (Gnetum gnemon), on tyrosinase activity and melanin biosynthesis.

Tyrosinase is the key enzyme involved in melanogenesis. The aim of this study was to investigate the in vitro inhibitory effects of gnetin C, a resveratrol dimer isolated from melinjo (Gnetum gnemon) seeds, on tyrosinase activity and melanin biosynthesis in murine B16 cells. The inhibitory activities of gnetin C and resveratrol were shown to be almost equal against tyrosinase and melanin biosyn...
